What to do
- Noteworthy
- Worth the detour
- Must see
The Gaspé coast is a unique natural environment with more than 130 kilometres of rugged St. Lawrence River coastline and marine ecosystem on one side, and the 1000-metre peaks of the Chic-Choc mountains on the other.
All of this combines to create truly breathtaking scenery! We suggest adding a stop here on your Canada motorhome holidays.
MONT ST-PIERRE
Mont-Saint-Pierre, a steep 411-meter high headland jutting into the St. Lawrence River, is the perfect spot for outdoor activities. The area is well known for its 110 kilometres of trails of all types and levels of difficulty, from short flat hikes to a large loop winding through the peaks and glacial valley surrounding the village.
The summit of Mont-Saint-Pierre offers some of the most spectacular views in Gaspésie. And when you see hang-gliders and paragliders swooping off the top of the mountain, you will understand why this small village in the Gaspé Peninsula is known as "Eastern Canada's hang-gliding capital". Why not try it yourself with Vue du Ciel? They also have a nice shop with lots of kites.
MONT-LOUIS VILLAGE AND COVE
This charming small village is located on a lovely bay that is a great place for a stroll. Make your way to the end of the Mont-Louis pier in the early morning or at the end of the day to watch the capelin fishermen. You are sure to find locals who are proud of their culture and eager to talk about their beautiful Gaspésie!
At the tip of the cove, near the pier, take a walk at low tide and hunt for treasure from the sea. Who knows what unique souvenirs you may be lucky enough to bring home with you?
If you have the chance, be sure to stop at Atkins & Frères to buy some high quality hot-smoked and cold-smoked fish and seafood.

CASSE-CROÛTE LA SEIGNEURIE ($)
This charming snack bar is right on the beach by the water, and offers the usual staples of a Quebec cantine: hamburgers, poutine, home fries and "guedilles" (a hotdog bun filled with lettuce, mayonnaise and lobster, crab or shrimp). Don't miss the "Délicieuse", a house specialty: it's a club sandwich in which the chicken is replaced by shrimp or lobster.

(Translated by Google) The coast is beautiful and Route 132 is very nice to follow. But not many activities in these fishing villages, especially when it rains.
