Well handled car rental.

Very easy booking through Authentik and pick up at Avis. It saved us a considerable amount of money.

Calgary to Vancouver trip

When we picked the car up, the sale agent tried to sell us a number of unnecessary extra's, which we declined. When we saw the car it was in poor condition. It was dirty and smelt of smoke. It a chip on the windshield and many scratches. They claimed they didn't have another car to give us. We were only offered a $50 discount due to the car being dirty.
The car actually performed well during our trip which we travelled 2600km.
I contacted Authentik as I was concerned we would have a hard time when dropping the car off. We were pleased with the response from Authentik rep, which made the drop off in Vancouver go very smoothly. [...]

Thrifty Dodge Caravan Rental through Authentik

Our booking process was easy with email questions answered fairly promptly.
The car itself was in good condition and had travelled only a bit over 30,000 km.
One thing we struggled with was finding somewhere we could check the air pressure in the tires. We are from Australia where virtually every fuel station has an electronic air pump for this purpose. Perhaps information about that for international travellers could be included.
On pick up of the vehicle in Calgary there were some scratches and marks not shown on the agreement. We noted these and returned to the desk as advised - no questions asked of the. On return of the vehicle at Vancouver airport the Thrifty rep asked where we picked up the vehicle and commented on the excessive notations. As a renter you need to know you are not going to be blamed for any marks/dents that were on the vehicle at pick up, so the fact they were not marked at collection and that attitude at pick up was a little concerning. The delay at pick up was also long.. mentioned on the documents it could be, but when a car is pre booked for a time it is a little difficult to understand why after queuing and waiting it is still along wait. Good car but could a clean inside!

A lovely car to drive. No issues picking it up or filling with petrol. Only issue we faced was it smelt of smoke inside and was dirty - crumbs and hairs over the car. Needed a good clean and hoover!

Found the best price for a car rental through Authentik.

Après une attente importante au comptoir Avis (env. 1h) et plusieurs cas de réservations qui semblaient long et complexe, nous avons été servis en moins de 5 minutes par l’agent. Le tout a été très efficace, ce que nous redoutions, et l’automobile (Nissan Versa 2021) était en parfaite condition et forte agréable à conduire.

My rental experience: I generally like the rental service with Authentic, but this time it was excessively expensive (almost the cost of a second hand car), and the rental company, AVIS, added an additional hidden charge of $150.00 at the outset for "costs of changing winter to summer tyres"! Why should the customer should pay this cost? And, why are hidden costs allowed when one buys "full coverage", especially at such extreme rates? It is not correct. Also, the car I was given (not the one described in the rental agreement with Authentik) did not have a lid over the trunk, and so all contents of the trunk (i.e., luggage) were fully exposed; this is inadequate given that most rentals are to tourists with luggage. AVIS should lower their prices, absorb their own standard maintenance costs, and provide cars fit for tourist renters. [...]

Good car for 7 people. AWD model would have been better

Thank you for the car rental. I received a Kia Secona in the end and was a great car but an AWD mkdel would have been better as I was driving in snow and ice conditions.
Car was as new and very clean.

Overall good experience

Picking up the car was straightforward and the staff were helpful in changing the make/type to one more suiteparking gad to our needs than the one allocated. The car was clean and well prepared. There were no problems during the hire period.

Returning the car in Toronto was more difficult. The directions led to the office only to find that the car had to be taken to an underground parking garage. This was not straight forward to get to due to the one way system, traffic, etc. The directions given should be to the drop off point in the parking garage not to the office.

The final invoice included the one way fee as expected but also an additional prime location charge which had not been in the quote. However this was soon sorted out by Authentik and the charge was refunded. Thanks. [...]

Great experience

Everything with the car rental went very smoothly. I even recieved a free vehicle upgrade at pickup.

Car rental office had moved - company provided pick up service but did not do the same when we returned the car.
Car also ran out of oil in a remote location - seems it had not been well serviced before we picked it up

Everything perfect

All was perfect. No waiting time to pick up the car, everything prepared as ordered, even received an upgrade to a higher category (SUV) which became very handy in the Rockies. And all at a very reasonable price. Also appreciated the online travel guide which was provided through Authentik Canada, very helpful.

Exactly as ordered

Car was just what we’d ordered, staff were efficient and not overly pushy about ‘Premium Breakdown Cover’ or paying extra to reduce the insurance excess (bought cover for this in the UK for around £50!). Car did have a deep scratch in the paint which we found during our inspection before we drove it for the first time (marked it on the paperwork and took a datestamped photo just in case of any problems on hand-back (they’re weren’t any ????). I would definitely recommend Authentik and Thrifty to others. [...]

Not clean, but ran fine. Extra sale at pick up did not impress me

Had a Buick Encore, wasn't very clean but ran fine. Didn't appreciate the guy convincing us we needed a GPS package whilst picking up the car. He had us scared that we would be lost without it, which I'm condident now is far from the truth. Drop off in Vancouver was very simple.

Fast and even with a complimentary upgrade so very happy, please advice to bring along your passport also for car rental pick up as it was compulsory.

Good car rental with confidence. Everything went super easy. Make sure your credit card actually shows the name of the driver. If not, it could be more expensive.

Very good experience

Very easy pick up of the vehicle in Calgary and very easy drop-off in Vancouver. Polite agents and a good cost. We also got a last minute car upgrade for the same price since the model we booked wasn't available. Car was Hyundai Elantra - new model, clean and nice with low fuel consumption.

Easy process

Had requested a Chevrolet Spark or similar small vehicle, but was provided with an intermediate size Toyota Corolla due to no availability at no extra cost. Was very happy with the service and easy pick up and drop off process. Very reasonable price for our 13 day car hire and would definitely use again.

Pick up & drop off of the vehicle was made easy at Thrifty Downtown Vancouver. The staff were pleasant, efficient & we were lucky enough to have the car brought right out front for us so we didn't have to navigate the parking garage..
We travelled over British Columbia and Alberta & the Ford Taurus was a great car. Fuel efficient & comfort was top notch.
