5 good reasons NOT to visit Western Canada in 2020

Many people dream of a holiday in Western Canada

I'm sure they've tried hard to convince you. But we understand the horror!

They may ask you to justify your position. So here are 5 good reasons not to visit Western Canada.

#1- You're afraid of heights

The image that comes to mind when we talk about a West Canada vacation is, of course, the Rocky Mountains, the highest mountains in Canada.

With their many nature parks, the Rockies can be enjoyed on foot, along hiking trails that are among the most beautiful in the world.

They offer countless breathtaking panoramas: bright turquoise lakes, lush forests, landscapes virtually untouched by human hands.

But… you suffer from vertigo, and the very idea makes your head spin.

And anyway, who wants to knock themselves out for a view? That's what photos are for!

#2- Scenic routes aren't safe

Western Canada has a panoply of scenic routes that are well worth a detour, far from the busy highways.

If you take the time, these detours can be quite spectacular.

From the Icefields Parkway with its mountains, glaciers and turquoise lakes to the Sea-To-Sky Highway winding between coastal mountains and the lush temperate rainforest, there is something to please everyone.

But you feel that driving and admiring the beautiful scenery at the same time is too dangerous... :attention: emoji

Roads are made for getting from A to B as quickly as possible, not for risking one's life!

#3- You don't like friendly people

Canadians are known for their warm hospitality.

They like to share, and they accept the differences of others.

And with this diversity comes an accessible world cuisine and a rich history.

But you're suspicious, and tell yourself they must be hiding something behind their smiles and good manners.

It's probably a scam.

After all, who greets total strangers in the street?

#4- You are stressed by nature

The Western provinces abound in natural, lush wilderness.

Whether in the national parks of the Rocky Mountains or along the Pacific coast of Vancouver Island, the vibe is calm and laid-back.

Nature is queen, and everyone here moves at her pace.

But, relaxing at nature's rhythm? Setting aside your day-to-day worries for days on end?

And no Wi-Fi ?! ::(: emoji

No way! You've got better things to do...

#5- Wildlife scares you

Whether out in the wilderness, in our national parks or by the roadside, wildlife can be encountered everywhere out West!

While camping, it's not uncommon to be visited by an elk or brown bear.

But phew ! Beavers, bears, caribou, elk, grizzlies, wolves... They send shivers down your spine.

They're all very well on TV, but in person, you prefer goldfishes.

All that wildlife is not worth the risk. You'd have to be crazy!

And that concludes my 5 good reasons not to visit Western Canada. What about you: why would you never set foot in the West?
