We had a very interesting and rich trip via Authentic Canada. Doing it with a private car enabled us to visit the things that were of interest to us at our own pace. We were welcomed at each hotel. The reservations were flawless.
Some hotels offered a minimum service (i.e. no breakfast, no restaurant). But we managed to provide for our own healthy breakfast and lunch by buying a small supply in supermarkets.
The roadbook is a good start to establish you own program. This means independency but also preparation and research. Planning ahead is mandatory to enjoy the trip.
One thing that absolutely needs to be clarified is the insurance of the rental car. In Europe the insurance covers the damage caused to third parties. An extra insurance covers the own damage to the car. We had a little incident with the car. Our own car was undamaged, but-t the other car had a little dent. Up to now it is still not clear if this was covered by the insurance (this is a minimum in our eyes!).

Driving Western Canada - an Australian experience
We had a fantastic driving trip from Calgary ro Vancouver via Banff, Jasper, Wells Grey National Park and Whistler. Authentic Canada had provide us with all the information we needed for a hassle free drive. We also had a GPS and some of the distances noted by Authentik didn’t match tho actual distances but we managed to find our way without too much trouble.
We liked the recommendations made for activities and eating particularly and the hotels were good, ranging from fantastic in the case of the Rimrock in Banff and the Fairmont in Whistler to ok in the case of the Crimson in Jasper. A highlight for us was the log cabin in the Alpine meadows resort and canoeing on its lake.
Vancouver provided a fitting end to our driving experience. Love that city.

A wonderful 10 days in Canada!
Such a great trip for my 50th birthday! Although the weather could have been better at times, we had a fabulous time in Calgary, Banff, Jasper, Clearwater, Whistler & Vancouver. The activities were well timed and the route well planned.

Rockie Mountain Road trip
We have just returned to Australia from our wonderful adventure in the Canadian Rockies. Our agent Josee enthusiastically helped us plan our itinerary which started in Calgary and finished in Vancouver. Our accommodation was exceptional. We started our journey with a detour to the Royal Tyrrell museum through the Prairie's of the Canadian Badlands to visit the dinosaurs. Our first night was back in the Rockies at Banff where we shopped, hiked and breathed in Nature. A visit to Lake Louise is a must to admire the amazing blue water and surrounding snow capped peaks. We saw 6 black bear including a mother and her 2 cubs, and a Grizzly on our trip to Jasper where we also made time to drive onto the Glacier on a rumbling Ice Explorer. We took a trip on a boat to Spirit Island where we felt that we were a million miles away from anywhere. We stopped to look at a Bald Eagle sitting on her nest on the return trip to Jasper. We spent a night in Clearwater in a log cabin on the lake in the company of bear and amazing Ruby throated hummingbirds which entertained us during our meals. It was somewhat refreshing to have no mobile phone and limited Wifi access at this point in our journey. We spent a night in Whistler where the Peak to Peak gondola ride reminded us of how small we are. We enjoyed 2 hours of snow falling at the top. We finished our journey with a short drive to Vancouver where sadly our week long road trip came to an end. We had a wonderful time on a perfect holiday where we were constantly reminded of the healing properties of spending time immersed in Nature, and how important it is that we look after this planet for future generations. Here are some comments for the future: the hotel in Calgary is really badly located. Lots of homeless people and we were afraid to walk near the hotel. There were about 40 homeless people 2 streets from the hotel and we were treated to a battle of sana shelters 1m from us. We had to take uber to get around safely. Having known we would have preferred to book a hotel more downtown or out of town. I don't think it's safe enough to send clients there yet. But nice hotel.
Otherwise, the hotel in Clearwater changed the room for us even though it had already been paid for. We noticed this on the way back and had to call them. It's settled quickly.
We had asked if the Squamish gondola, suspension bridge and city tour was done in 1 day. We were told yes, but that is clearly not the case. We paid a lot of money to not see much. The gondola is only worth it if you hike to the top. There is nothing to do except cross the bridge and the 10 mins mini hike. We stayed upstairs for 30 mins max, it was clearly not worth the 60-70$ per person. To enjoy it, you have to stay longer which we didn't have. then the suspended point we stayed 2 hours, because there were so many people that it was impossible below that. The bus ride we ran out of time. It ends at 5 p.m., so we had time to go around and go down once. This day was bcp too full.
Another subject without too much importance, but tiring: the rooms were not reserved with the right couples, so the 2 rooms were in my name and my spouse instead of in the name of the other couple We had to pay the security charges everywhere.
Our car was reserved 2 hours after our arrival by plane. We were lucky to have the car 2 hours in advance, but it would have been nice for our manager to inquire about our arrival times. She just told us that she couldn't do anything.
