Good service in Montreal, but had a slow puncture which needed pumping up 6 times over the 3 weeks.

Very good service overall. The staff was helpful and we were happy to get a new car. However, the waiting lines for car pick-up were quite long, which made the process slower than expected. Still, a positive experience in the end.

Communication by Koralie Gris was prompt, friendly and helpful. Car was excellent, as we ordered with smooth transition from Authentik to Avis, our provider.
Price double due to insurance
Everything from Pick-up to delivery went well. The rental car was payed for well in advance of our holidays.
On the website you read that another couple of 100$ will be charged (one-way fees) etc. so that your ready for this when you go to pick up the car. However... during the pick-up you're confronted with the insurance. The cheapest rate, which ich what we took, cost almost 40$ a day! We were in Canada for 25 days which meant we got, upon return home a final bill for 1.311CAD. The cost for the car rental doubled itself with inclusion of insurance. This is substantial an needs to be clearly mentioned for a clear overview of what the total cost of the rental will be in the end.
Although everything went well...this put a big damper on our level of satisfaction.

Car Hire Montreal ( Intermediate SUV)
Office in central Montréal was closed at pick up time with a sign advising back shortly as washing cars. Slightly frustrating as there was also 2 other pick ups waiting. Staff member was efficient and provided good info when they did return. Car was fine, although could have been cleaner inside ( lots of dust ) Drop off at airport was quick with no issues.

Well landing in Toronto and having to wait outside in a parking garage at terminal 3 in 85 degrees was very unpleasant, there was a line and the office was very tiny and slow in handling customers, so we had to wait in very hot Garage, Terminal 1 is very different, has a large office and modern. It was so unpleasant I forgot to ask about crossing into U.S. So I tried to call them the next day, No one would answer the Airport number, so I called the Main Avis number, The woman said I needed to get a sticker to drive into the U.S. and had to drive back to Avis at the airport, This was very inconvenient and turned out to be the wrong information. When I drove back the said i did not need anything to cross into the U.S. So I drove over 65 kilometers there and back and waisted over two hours of my time for nothing. There customer service information was horrible, I have filed a complaint and asking for a reimbursement for gas money and my time. They are reviewing my case. Otherwise the car was fine. [...]

Beware - No grace period despite what Avis claim
My 19 day rental was due to start and end at 430pm. When I got to the rental at the start of the holiday I was a lirttle early at c 4pm and explained that I was a bit nervous about taking the car early as I wasnt sure Id be back for 4 as I was dependent on a ferry and that id be happy to delay my hire. I was comforted by the reception staff who stated that there was a grace period of c1Hour which i thought would be ok. Avis take a further $100 at the start as a deposit and I got back to Halifax at 4.34pm. I was told that there was no grace peiod and I lost my deposit and it was explained tthat even if i was a minute late i'd be charged a full extra day's rental. This was the only poor service I received in Canada in nearly 3 weeks and I post this as a further warning to not believe anything these large rental/hire car companies tell you [...]

We drive over 3000km over 14days, the GMC elevation was perfect for the roads in Canada. Great price too.

Not pushy at all on extras
Was really happy when having taken the $0 deductible option with Authentik that they did not push for me to purchase any further insurance, as I have previously found in Europe.
Returning the car was zero hassle
Collecting car was a waiting game as car was not ready!!! Which was a shame as returning the car was super easy! It would have been nice to have been taken to the car on collection and be shown how to use Apple CarPlay etc..

First Canada Hire
All was easy and straight forward from booking via AUTHENTIK to collection in downtown Vancouver to drop off two weeks later at airport..would have been even more exceptional if the car had a built in sat nav as coming from UK conencting via personal mobile to maps soaked up the data.!...but also had a US OREGON license plate and had several stange looks and approaches one in person.!! [...]

We had a great experience with Authentik. After booking, we needed to switch from a full-size SUV to an intermediate SUV, and their staff handled the change quickly and efficiently over email. We would definitely recommend their service.
SUV rental in Halifax Nova Scotia
Our experience with Avis was very good. The process was quick and the vehicles were new with low kms. We had a choice between three vehicles in which we chose a Hyundai Kona. For the two of us, the vehicle met our needs. Dropping off the vehicle again was seamless..Overall experience, definitely recommend.
Great rental
Service from authentik was great ( koralie), I received personalized emails and price for full size truck was 475 $ compared to close to 1000$ on many other websites. I was done at the calgary avis counter within 15 minutes and on my way with a brand new chevy traverse 2025. Car was perfect for 4 men and 4 golf sets and luggage. Would highly recommend!
Canada Road trip
I had a very easy pick up in Vancouver and again a quick and easy drop off in Calgary. The people were friendly there was no hassle to buy more cover when picking up. The car was great very clean and certainly made us comfortable in our long drive. Would definitely use authentic Canada and thrifty again

We were very pleased that we had booked our car through Authentik.
The customer service was amazing... we had to change our lead driver, so we had to cancel and rebook.
Koralie Gris was the lady at Authentik who had dealt with our booking, and she always picked up our emailsherself, was prompt and advised us and was helpful. It was wonderful to have our "own" advisor at Authentik.
This took all the stress out of a difficult moment.
We'd certainly book with them again.

My experience with thrifty car hire was very good from start to finish on arrival to collect the car which was upgraded at no extra cost. I was met with polite prompt helpfully service. If or when I return to Canada I would be more than happy to use Thrifty again and I would fully recommend them for car hire.
