Whether you're celebrating a wedding anniversary, an engagement, or just looking for a romantic getaway with your significant other, Canada is the perfect destination for lovers. Discover 10 romantic places in Canada you won't want to miss!
#1. A night with the wolves at Parc Omega
How would you like to spend a night with your loved one in the heart of nature and in total immersion with the wolves? Sounds tempting, doesn't it? That's what you can do at Parc Omega in Montebello, Quebec.
On your arrival, you will cross the wildlife park and see many wild animals such as bison, caribou, coyotes, bears, and many other species.
Then get settled into your accommodation. To sleep with the wolves and create precious memories, choose between the wolf cabin, the wolf chalet, or the wolf lodge. Panoramic bay windows offer unrestricted views of these fascinating animals. What could be more romantic than watching the pack and their cubs by the light of the moon from the comfort of your cozy room?
#2. A getaway to Victoria on Vancouver Island
British Columbia's capital is the perfect place for lovers. Both modern and rich in history, Victoria invites you to make the most of every moment. Speaking of which, we're sure you'll be charmed by Craigdarroch Castle, a Victorian manor house built on a hill.
During your couples getaway to Victoria on Vancouver Island, be sure to take in the atmosphere of Inner Harbour and Beacon Hill Park with its bucolic gardens. Enjoy a quiet moment together over afternoon tea, a tradition straight from the UK.
A word of advice: don't leave Victoria without treating yourselves to an orca-watching tour by Zodiac or boat. During this unique excursion, you can observe these impressive marine mammals in their natural habitat.
#3. Helicopter flight over Niagara Falls
Known the world over, Niagara Falls is a destination of choice for honeymoons and Valentine's Day. Marvelling at the power and splendour of these famous waterfalls is even more magical with your partner by your side.
While seeing them from the ground is incredible enough, viewing them from the sky is simply spectacular! A helicopter flight over the Niagara Falls will give you the thrill of a lifetime.
You can also discover the beautiful hilly Charlevoix region from the air by joining your loved one on a helicopter tour of Charlevoix and the surrounding area.
If you enjoy taking to the skies, you can also opt for a seaplane tour of the Mauricie region. While every season has its charms, I feel that Quebec's autumn landscapes are the most flamboyant.
#4. A getaway at Emerald Lake Lodge
To get away for a weekend or more, head to Emerald Lake Lodge in Yoho National Park. This lovely hotel is in an incredibly scenic, secluded location on the shores of Emerald Lake. It's the perfect place to reconnect with nature and disconnect from the stress of urban life.
The hotel has a charm all its own, with rooms featuring fireplaces, balconies and views of one of the most beautiful lakes in the Canadian Rockies. Just perfect for a romantic getaway!
You'll have just one objective: to recharge your batteries without thinking about anything else. Quite the program!
#5. A stroll through Old Quebec
Head to Old Quebec for a romantic stroll. This part of Quebec City looks like it belongs on a postcard, especially in winter. Take the time to wander through the historic streets, enjoy the unique architecture of the buildings, and take a break in a cozy café to warm up.
Continue your romantic walk to the superb Château Frontenac and Terrasse Dufferin, where you can enjoy the view of the St. Lawrence River. Don't hesitate to take a selfie or ask a passerby to capture the moment. You're right in one of Old Quebec's most iconic photo spots!
After browsing the boutiques and art galleries of Petit Champlain, sample Quebec gastronomy in one of Quebec City's many excellent gourmet restaurants. I recommend Chez Boulay and Ciel! restaurants for rooftop dining in Old Quebec.
#6. An intimate moment at Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise
The fabulous Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise hotel is located in Banff National Park in Alberta, on the shores of Lake Louise. If you'd like to surprise your loved one, celebrate your anniversary, or just indulge yourself, don't hesitate to spend a night at this magnificent hotel.
The hotel offers breathtaking views of Lake Louise and the Canadian Rockies, in summer and winter alike.
If your budget doesn't stretch to staying the night, you can come for tea and pastries or treat yourselves to a relaxing massage at the hotel spa. It's no wonder so many couples come here to get married and celebrate their love!
#7. A night at Pot à l’Eau-de-Vie lighthouse in the St. Lawrence River
For a complete change of scenery and an extraordinary experience, come spend a night at the Pot du Phare Island lighthouse in the middle of the St. Lawrence River. Restored in 1989 to its last-century glory, this small lighthouse has an incredible charm and three elegant rooms.
A short boat crossing from Rivière-du-Loup will take you to the island. You can then access the lighthouse tower and explore the walking paths, outside bird nesting season. Enjoy watching the seabirds, seals and beluga whales, then a regional dinner will be served at the end of the day.
The lighthouse can accommodate up to six people, but for an extra fee, you can reserve the lighthouse all to yourselves if you so desire.
#8. An afternoon at the spa in Western Canada
There's no better way to share a moment of relaxation than to be pampered at a gorgeous spa, is there?
I recommend the Scandinave Spa Whistler with its sumptuous natural setting. Relax in the saunas, hammams and hot baths, then take a cold plunge to eliminate toxins. To make it even more romantic, the view of the mountains from the outdoor pools is simply majestic.
Then treat yourselves to a couples massage and enjoy the moment together, at the same time and in the same cabin. Spending quality time with the person you love after a day of skiing or hiking is pure bliss! It's also a great way to relax during a Western Canada RV road trip.
#9. Ice skating at Notre-Dame-du-Mont-Carmel
Fancy a magical experience for two? Then head to Domaine Enchanteur in Notre-Dame-du-Mont-Carmel, between Quebec City and Montreal.
A superb moment in nature in the heart of the Mauricie region awaits you. Lace up your skates, join hands, and hit the icy trails deep in a vast pine forest. You have fifteen kilometres of skating trails to enjoy!
You're sure to come across plenty of animals along the way. For the perfect romantic atmosphere, come after 5 p.m. to skate at dusk and enjoy the lights.
#10. A magnificent sunset at Sulphur Mountain in Banff National Park
I can't end this selection of the 10 most romantic places in Canada without including a great sunset spot. For that, let's head to Banff. Don't be jealous, but with its mountain peaks, turquoise-coloured glacial waters and lush green forests, your special someone may well fall in love with Banff National Park!
For a Canadian sunset you won't forget, take the Banff Gondola to the top of Sulphur Mountain at the end of the day. The gondola will whisk you up to an altitude of 2,281 metres in under ten minutes.
Once there, head to the panoramic observation deck for a 360° view of the surrounding area and a fabulous sunset that will remain etched in your memories of your romantic Canadian vacation.
